Mogura-uchi Uta (Mole-Striking Song)」「This belongs to the same category of the above mentioned "Inoko Uta". The present recording was made by primary school children of Takeo City, Saga Prefecture，in Kyushu, Japan's southernmost major island．」「Inoko means the children of the I or wild boar. Since baby wild boars do look like mogura (moles), and the children who join in the festival strike the ground as if driving moles into the soil, I has changed into mogura or moles, and the original ritual of conveying the people's wishes to the god of the soil has gradually changed into one to prevent moles from coming out of the soil. Hence the name "Mogura-uchi Uta" (Mole-Striking Song)．Moles drill holes through the ridges between the flooded rice fields and cause leakages which pose a great threat to the farmers' crops. The mole striking ceremony, therefore, is directly connected with the farmers' wishes for bumper crops.」「Takeo City lies in a plain where rice is the main crop.」「The words of the song go something like this："Let's bless the people who live in this house by holding the Inoko ritual to prevent moles from coming out of the ground. Let's offer prayers so that the family here and their paddy fields will prosper, that they may be able to build a rice storehouse on the western side of their house, and a treasury on the eastern side. Let's also pray that the master of the house may be as lucky as the crane which is said to live for a thousand years and the turtle which lives for ten thousand years，and may enjoy his long life working in good health．"」「This custom is seldom observed but still can be seen in Kyushu.」と記載。
