雑資料二枚目に「9. ASADOYA YUNTA 3'24"」、十三枚目に「"ASADOYA YUNTA" (Okinawa Prefecture)」「This song has long been sung in Taketomi Island, an island of the Yaeyama group in Okinawa Prefecture.」「Okinawan folk songs generally fall under two categories: the "aaku" or ballads and the "yunta" or work songs. The present number was originally sung by」、十四枚目に「farmers and later, with the introduction of shamisen accompaniment, came to be known throughout Okinawa as "Asadoya-bushi." Arranged as a popular song in 1934, the "Asadoya Yunta" soon became a national hit.」「The word "Asadoya" is one of the names which have been used since days of old in Japanese farming and fishing hamlets to distinguish each household. The song deals with Kumaya, the beautiful daughter of the Asadoya family of Taketomi Island. Courted by two island officials, Kumaya, being a practical girl, chooses the senior official. The other official marries a girl from the neighboring village, a girl as beautiful as Kumaya.」「The story then is quite simple in plot, but it points up the islanders' mentality: their willingness to bow before authority, and the girls'vanity as seen in Kumaya's decision to marry the official of senior rank, for instance.」「The Okinawa shamisen differs from its Japanese counterpart in that the soundboard is made of snakeskin, whereas the skins of cats or dogs are employed for that of the latter. And generally, Okinawan songs have a sad quality about them.」と記載。
